Beautiful Redeemer
Beautiful Redeemer
Beautiful Redeemer, constant, loyal friend
Alpha and Omega; the beginning and the end
Lord of all creation, ever-flowing grace
Hope for the broken hearted
We long to see you face to face
You knitted us in our mothers’ wombs
And called us all by name
You knew us, Lord, before all time began
We were made to love you
We are part of heaven’s plan
How we long for that day when we will see you
Beautiful Redeemer ...
Though no one’s ever seen you
We know you in our hearts
Your Spirit is a beacon to our souls
Dimly now we see you, but one day as you are
Face-to-face, eye-to-eye, heart-to-heart
Beautiful Redeemer ...
Our hearts are longing for you
Our hearts are longing for you, O God
Our hearts are longing for you, O God
Beautiful Redeemer ...
At present we see indistinctly, as in a mirror, but then face to face. At present I know partially; then I shall know fully, as I am fully known. (1 Corinthians 13:12)
Too many times my prayers are centered around wants and needs (I want, I need) and not enough time is spent on praise and thanksgiving. If we peel away all of those pretenses, we will see and feel that burning desire inside of us that recognizes our strong desire for God and how wonderful He is.
I had a conversation with someone who said that if he gets to heaven he hopes that we don’t just sit around all day doing nothing. He hoped that God would give us tasks to do to keep ourselves busy. That’s not my vision of heaven.
In my vision of heaven, we spend ALL of our time in praise and thanksgiving. God will have given us everything we need, desire and deserve ... and more! I pray that I live my life longing for that day and in holiness that I may enjoy the eternal feast and meet the One who knew me before time began.
Beautiful Redeemer
