A friend’s a friend forever

Though seasons come and go

A love that’s freely given never ends

In times of pain and sorrow

When questions fill your heart

Know that I am with you, gentle friend

Gentle friend, I am standing right beside you

Gentle friend, I am praying you along

Gentle friend, may angels’ wings enfold you

To lift you up on days when you are down

And be renewed by God’s love all around you

The peace you seek is found in Christ, alone

This wasn’t how we planned things - real life rarely is

This pilgrim path we journey twists and bends

We celebrated some good times

And we’ll make it through the bad

By the grace of God and kindness of our friends

Gentle friend ...

It’s amazing! God’s love is amazing!

    Another Jim Troll-inspired song.

Christmas, 2006 - Jim called me and asked if he could stop by my house. He said he had something for me.

When he arrived, he handed me a Christmas card and a CD. He had recorded a sampling of some of his favorite artists and had a surprise for me. He had recorded my song, In Solitude I Wait, with his home recording equipment. He performed all vocal and instrumental parts himself. It was beautiful!

What Jim didn’t know is that we had another surprise for him. Just the night before, a group of us had gathered to record this song for him. It was written to help him through his cancer treatments and to help be strong in his faith. We gave the CD to Jim that Sunday and he was delighted.

I would sing this song a lot while driving to and from work - whenever I would think of Jim and Kathy and what a difficult time they were going through.

Jim and his family had lots of people praying for them during Jim’s battle with cancer. I hope that everyone facing a life-threatening illness has such a wonderful support system as Jim and Kathy had.

It’s amazing! God’s love is amazing!
